Just need to know what to use with regards to using a mirage set-up.

Do you have to use a metro turbo inlet manifold or a N/A metro manifold.?

Cheers

You can use either. I prefer the turbo one, but one of the fastest roadgoing turbo minis in th world uses the N/A one iirc.

I think they are both good for flow, but one is deeper than the other so needs special washers. I could be way off though... where's nic?

If you use the turbo one you will need to make the flanges thinner so that they match up with the mirage ones.

Not much of a job really.

Hi,
I spoke to Richard at Mirage and he said the manifolds were designed for the non-turbo manifold, but as said above you can modify the turbo one and probably use some aftermarket ones too?

Gavin:)

When you say thin the flange, do you mean maching the manifold face or just grind a bit off where the nut and washer bolt up to?

Thin it down from the nut side.

Lowestoft, Suffolk.

This is the best pic I could find of mine (using metro turbo manifold) but you can just about see enough to get an idea.

Ah yes, I was thinking about machining the face as I get the benifit of moving everything closer to the head and maybe gaining a few extra mm clearance between plemum and bulkhead. I have a central speedo and even with the angle drive on the speedo cable it's getting mighty tight!

Cheers for the info guy's.

I've just had the same issue with my N/A manifold for my 48IDA. Thickness of 14mm as apposed to exhaust manifold thickness of 8mm.So i had some step washers machine to compensate for the difference.

Only reason i did it this way was to maintain the inlet length. But for a turbo setup i don't think it would matter so much.

Hi,
If you machine / file the washer side of the flange down it won't change the inlet length *wink*

Gavin :)
