I'm in the process of getting my car ready for avon park. My rolling road session is booked for 26th of this month so time is limited. I'm converting to a front rad as my old side mount is knackered.
I've just ordered a new metro radiator (the one with connections on the same side) But I'm confused what other bits I need.

I'm using a standard old style single piece stat housing will I need the metro version with a extra smaller take off?

What size piping should I be using? 32mm?

I was thinking of using the standard mini bottom hose and joining it with one of these ..
http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/welded-aluminiu...3215-1032-p.asp
which would enable me to connect the header tank to it?

I'm also assuming i can take the pipe from the RHS of the head to the old mini bottom hose connector as I'm not running a heater?

will this fan be sufficient? http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/10-inch-fan10-758-p.asp

Sorry for all questions.. I thought it would be easy to work out, but having sat down to do it, its not as simple as I thought :S

Im not using the metro rad (but similar), I used the hoses out of Rover 100, seemed to be all the bends I needed (along with the mini ones) and they were fook all to buy from the scrappy. 32mm is what I used.

I was using standard single tier thermostat.

Yeah run the hose that usually goes to heater on rad bottom hose straight to cylinder head outlet.

Here's the thread that might help you.

Bottom hose to water pump.

dead easy to sort out ant, if you head over this way in the week we can go scrappy ratting and get some pipes.

the heater take off on the head needs to go into the top hose so it goes through the rad, not into the bottom hose else it just goes back through the engine hot.

Isn't the idea of that hose so you always have water circulating around cylinder 4 when the thermostat is closed though?

yeah when the stat is closed it'll come up out of the heater take off and into the top hose, with the stat closed the only place it can go is into the rad.

at least thats how i've always understood it it and had mine piped...i think *Confused*

im going to be using an MPI rad but not in the standard position, would it be ok using metal bends to connect up all the pipes and do you advise using 32mm pipes or are they to big?
