I have just recieved a £35 fixed penalty notice for parking in residents parking spaces for which is annoying enough. What makes it twice as annoying is that I Didn't actually see the sign notifing me that it was residents parking due to it being miles away. and that I can't have been in the shop opposite the parking space for more then the 6 minutes the warden is quoted as waiting.

Will I stand a chance contesting it?

Also will the post office let you send a heavy parcel with just a stamp on it, I would like to attatch something heavy to the fine envolope out of spite so it costs them money in postage *angry*

Send them a cheque written on bog roll. You can legally write a cheque from your bank account on anything so long as it contains all the details etc on a normal cheque. They on the other hand may refuse to cash it. A mate of my Dad's did this and much hilarity ensued as the place refused to cash it, but he maintained it was perfectly acceptable and kept sending it back to them.

You have admitted that you were parked illegally, so why contest it when it is valid. Everybody wants something for nothing these days.

I didn't know it was illegal until I came back as the warden had finished issuing the ticket. If I'd known I was in the wrong, I wouldn't have parked there

I parked on some double-yellows that weren't even visible in blackpool because the road was in such bad shape. I initially appealed, but realised very quickly that I was not going to get anywhere.

In short - You screwed up. There was a sign. You know (now) there was a sign... Best just to pay and forget it, and move on....

Like Dave said, you made a mistake and got caught. just pay up and accept it. when you appeal and get rejected you will feel even more hard done by.

Yeah, now I've calmed down a bit I will get on and forget about it.

When I found it the red mist decended,

Though I would still like to send a breeze block with it.

Perhaps take the money yourself there, in small change? Not too much or too small though, they even have rules against that :/

Utter bastards! I did them a favour by taking the fine in 50p's as they were happy to have some more change, they were running low*hehe!*

If it happens again, I'll pay in 10p's

Ive got out of two parking tickets in leeds, i was blatently wrong parking on single yellow line the first time, and in a residential area the second time.

I shouldnt admit this online, but the first photo i photoshopped puddles over the lines and the second time i photoshopped piles of leaves over the lines, making it look like a legal place to park.
