Just ordered my Mega Joltz V4. should be here in a few days. I'll do a build log if people want. seems very similar to the v3 but the map sensor faces the out side of the case so you don't use a bulkhead fitting to the outside. I'm going to put a fitting though the bulkhead on the car so the engine can't tugg on the ecu. will keep you posted.

Hi,
This unit is supposed to have IAT retard too if you fit the sensor..?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

I have decided to wait before upgrading to V4 because most if not all the new functionality should be possible with the new V3 firmware and software.

One of the new features is to be able to retard the ignition, triggered by a temperature sensor, external knock sensor or wideband output.

Hi,
To me the IAT retard function was the only thing lacking on MJ for turbo engines.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

It's not an IAT retard, it can take any sensor which gives a variable voltage output, so you could use water temperature, a lamba sensor (with a scalable voltage decipher), or IAT as IAT appears to be the most usefull. You then map the the range of voltage accross load bins of your choice and set the advance and retard in those bins accordingly.

They call it Aux Input.

Hi,
Call it what you want, it's the thing that could save your pistons from a heat-soak meltdown *wink*

Looks like the V4 is simply a rework due to the cpu being discontinued. The aux feature will also be available on V3 later...

Sounds a very useful extra feature indeed, could more than one sensor be connected though?

o dear. I have just received my V4 and well........... its tiny! i mean i know it says it small but this is REALLY small. Will require a japanese child to assemble it. good job i bought the tweasers to hold the compoants. this is going to be alot harder to put together than the V3. my advice buy the built one.

will take pics as the build comes along. just remmber items may apreare larger in pictures

There are some good soldering tips on the megajolt website, it is worth reading those. I do a fair ammount of soldering and the techniques work well.

Did you buy the rev limiter module? The power transistor legs are a challenge :)

Does look a decent bit of kit... im gonna upgrade mine soon when i re-wire the car. Hoping to use the aux input to advance the timing a bit when the engine is cold.

Received my V4 through the post this morning, had it all assembled in about an hour, tested the unit and it works *smiley*

Just need to get it in the mini now!

I bought mine direct from www.autosportlabs.net

The shipping costs about 27 dollars ( about 12 quid) which isn't bad IMO. I ordered it last saturday and it arrived this morning.
