I have taken the flywheel off my problem motor to find that the plunger rod has welded itself with the thrust washer to the diaphragm, has anyone seen this before?

I've tried tapping it with a hammer, but it is solid, does this mean I need a new diaphragm?

Also, how do you identify which strength of diaphragm you have? I can't seem to find any colour on it.

You can just see the bluish line where it seems to be inductive welded, lol

Thanks

Tony

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

you can bet you have a standard diaphram, i would upgrade this to a grey cover since you have it out, around £34 from minspares.
i would replace the thrust bearing as well ...... my monies on incorrect adjustment the bearings is just contact all the time this is why it has failed.

Thanks for that, I didn't even notice that clip for looking at it.

So what do I look for to see if it's a standard one? (what is a standard one)

You lot talk about colours, only colour I can see seems to be a grey splodge, lol, just make it out in the pic.
