What is the best way to do this to avoid ring damage, I am aware that if I break a std turbo piston ring thats it i'm fucked as they are now obsolete.

Would it be better to use the tool that sort of pulls the ring apart, or to carefully manuvre the ring into the groove.

I use a cheapy Clarke tool....

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

Just to confirm, I use the above tool and had no problem.

Once I had the thing the right way round that is. They are not an intuitive tool to use, and come with no instructions!
