I plan on building a T2 1293cc engine for my project mini. I am not after loads of bhp just want an engine which off boost is fairly mild to retain some sort of mpg and on boost a little quicker - hence the reasoning of a T2 turbo.

Current Spec i think i would use is as follows:

1293cc
9.4:1 CR - i am unsure if this would be ok and would need advise really
Again Pistons i am unsure of heard good things about Omega Cast ones but do i need dished ones ??? - Head wise i am unsure how to identify the head - i was told the complete engine was removed from a metro.
Stardard 1275GT Cam
Metro Turbo Carb
Mpi Tank and Pump
RS Turbo Intercooler
Dizzy - less Ignition
R5 T2 Turbo on Mirage Manifolds
7psi actuator
Minispares 2 core Rad
Thermostat controlled oil cooler
X-pin diff
Straight Cut Drop gears
Centre Oil pick up pipe

Any advise would be helpful

How do you know what the CR will be if you don't know what pistons/head you are going to be using?

Ditch the 1275GT cam for an N/A MG Metro or Phase 2.

Look at the valve stems on the head. If exhausts are larger than the inlets, it's a genuine MG Metro turbo head.

Bar the cam that sounds pretty much the same as the 1293 that will eventually be fitted to my BOC (project has been going for 3 years now) only difference is that I'll be going for a phase 2 cam, MPI rad and a mildly tweaked head.

The CR i posted i wanted to know if it was ok, then i could find out how to achieve with pistons and Combustion Chamber
Thanks for the Advise, i would also like the mpi rad but i would have space issues with where i want to mount the intercooler and oil cooler

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Hi,
I'd go with the MG N/A cam or the Kent equivalent for what you want.
If the head is standard you'll want the same dish as the standard pistons to run 9.4CR and about 10psi.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

After checking my engine code, i have discovered that the end i have is a A+ Metro N/a 1275cc engine, Cylinder head is 12H907, is this head ok for what want ?? or change the exhaust valves and springs??

Tom

Also decided to change from mirage manifolds and use a metro turbo item with adaptor plates for the T2
