Basically I have got the engine in the car and everything ready. I have got it spinning on the starter with a healthy 65psi oil pressure.

I cannot get it to start, I have a spark, though it is not particularly strong, it was trying to go earlier but not successfully. I think there may be a fueling problem though cant see why.

I had to drain the tank earlier to fill it with the higher octane fuel, but now have fuel at the carb. I am not sure whether it is actually making it into the engine, There is no strong smell of petrol when the plugs are removed.

Could it be that in draining the tanks some of the crap from the bottom of the tank has blocked the little filter at the bottom of the dashpot?

Thoughts and suggestions please

Thanks
James

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

I would have to say yes. If all else fails I will check it again.

Maybe you could set it really rich to see if the plugs get wet?
And is the dizzy fitted the right way round?

Just stupid ideas i know.

Hi,
Dizzy drive in wrong and firing order are the 2 things that usually stop new builds from starting. Other thing to check is tappet gaps *wink*

there was a little crap in the carb that caused the problem.
