Im getting a misfire on my NA 1380. It happens when i first start driving the car. Then it will eventually clear and be fine, but if i were to stop for example to get fuel, then it would start again and eventually clear. It happens around 5000 rpm to start with then gradually gets higher until it clears up and revs clean to 7000. Ive changed all ignition components, plugs, coil, points and condenser, leads, even tried leccy ign but still happens.

I just switched the head from my old 1380 onto this engine and the HIF44. I used to suffer the same problem on the old 1380 engine, carb has all been cleaned etc, does this sound like sticking valves in the guides as i found a couple of references to this causing misfiring by searchin the site

Its has the minispares manganese jobs could these need reaming bigger i did have them reamed after fitting tho?

Any input much appreciated
Cheers,
Oli

Hi,
Sounds like it may be too rich, what do the plugs look like?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Hi,
Check your fuel pressure, 3-4 psi *wink*
Then get it back on the rollers.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

I whipped it off last week and the guides were fine and no signs of binding on the stems, took it back down the rollers and the bloody thing was fine again! Hopefully itll still be good for sunday.
Cheers all for help
