Hi Guys,

ive just bought a block (A+) thats bored to 1330, not the previous owner shagged the pistons so i bought some of those hypatec 1380 jobbies, but have since been told that I cant have my block offset bored from 1330?!?!?! Is that right????

Why do you want to offset bore it ?.It should be OK on the original centres.

I thought 1380s had to offset bored to stop the head gaskets going???

You're all wrong.

A 1380 does not have to be offset bored. However, if at a later date going to 74mm you WILL have to do it.

Also, an offset bore will leave more meat between cyl 2 and 3 which obviously is a good thing.

From 1330 you CAN offset bore. Period.

(It all depends where you want the offset to, so the question is a bit of semanthics really.)

Vegard, you are a life saver. I want the extra meat between 2 and 3 as i dont like the idea of changing head gaskets every 5 minutes!!! Obviously the offset moves the holes further from the centre line of the block, Im sure minispeed can sort it out!

Although you don't HAVE to, it really makes sense to do so.

Mine is only 1360 (73mm).

The machine shop I used had NO problem doing it from an already overbored block.

It would be ok on the original centres though tadge, just that offset boring it (which is definitely possible in this case) would leave a little more between 2 and 3. Thus, hopefully, preventing frequent head gasket changes.
