I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

update on my car *frown* not good unfortunatly *frown*

the engine came out saturday for a leaking manifold gaskit. which i thought fair enought a bit of a pain but i can cope with that.

once the engine was out took apart all the turbo assembily and was cleaning manifold faces and my friend was looking over the turbo and found a big crack in the wastgate.

the crack runs from the outside edge to the wastgate port and then from the other edge of the wastgate port to the impeller port and is right the way through the casting.

so the car is off the road till i can arrange a replacement exhaust casing or replacement t2 turbo

Have you got any photos, I am not sure I have seen a T2 without a crack, it may be OK.

i dont have any pix at the mo getting some sorted will post up soon

everything is so tight that it is impossible to do it with the engine in there as the bulk head is not cut because i am running a t2 on mirage manifolds if did not need to.

you can just get your little finger between the turbo and the body work

crickey, could you not have double nutted the haed studs, and slide the head forward and off?

i guess it would mean a new hg, but id pay that not to have to lug the lump out!

i dont have a problem taking the engine out it dont take much i dont think. i can have it out and back in in a day if all goes well (done it before when found a water leak on the back nut on the turbo!!!)

This time however i found this crack so stopped till i can get it checked out was on track for out and in, in a day as well sods law that is
