In the garage......again!!

do you have an oil cooler attached? are the pipes upside down or mounted at an angle, that can drain back into the sump.

oil pump gasket?

aparently they can split if the pump bolts are done too tight.

Hi,
I think Milamber had this problem on his metro. When he stripped it down he found a crack in the oil pump body...
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Its worth checking out. I had to prime mine though everytime I started it.
Problably as Joe said, check the gasket.
Try priming it before starting...that will tell you if its pump or gauge. :)

think for the safe side i am going to look at the pump and gasket, so used to taking this thing appert it does not bother me any more, i had a feeling it was the pump and my hunches usually work out to be right, i have checked unions by the way before any one has a go at me for making this decision, all input was good input will let you now what it is

was it from mini spares?, i have had a mini spares oil pump before and it never lasted 5 minutes*surprised*

however i would like to say i have spent maybe £2000 with mini spares over the last 4 years and the pump is the only crap thing i have had from them

the old power flow pump was from avonbar and the new one from mini spares, they are the same pump other then the back plate which i had a look at. the problem with the old one is that where the rotor sits in the back plate, it lloks like there has been no lubrication so has almost welded the back plate and the rotor together even though i primed the pump lots of times before fitting an starting so who nows what went on but all working sweet now, see how long this lasts if they have a bad rep

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

fit an extra long magnetic oil sump plug available from minispares this will help thing out

most peeps on here use the standard steel backed oil pump from minispares and have no bother, may have been a dodgy pump ..?

I thought all powerflow pumps from Avonbar & Minispares are the same. As Benross said, a dodgy pump.
