Out of interest what AFRs do you guys get when cruising on the motorway part throttle at a sensible motorway speed?

Surely part throttle should be either stoich or slightly lean?

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Hi,
I've heard 15-16 mentioned, but I don't know if it's achievable with a carb, or a good idea on an A series?
EDIT: Either way whatever gives you the best economy is the number to go for, trial and error the way to achieve it.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Hi,
You've got something horribly wrong to only be doing 14mpg!
A Dodge Ram pick up with a V8 diesel does 20mpg!
Seems a bit rich for starters, what advance you running?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

about 60 mph i'm getting around 14 to 15 AFR, when it goes over high 14s the car doesn't run as smoothly.

Best 1/4 mile 13.2 seconds @116 mph
First 5 port miniturbo to make over 200 bhp on a carb?

it does need a rolling road. every time i pin the thorottle it kicks smoke out the exaust so id say its fairly rich, not great when the only fuel you can put in it is v shell power.

13:1 compression ratio does my head in.

but i do sit on the motor way at sort of 4-6k revs.

Cheers guys, I running between 14.5 & 15.5, which I thought was a bit rich for cruising but thought it worth checking before I started fiddling. Hum wander if this is why my plugs died?

Did all the plugs die or just ones on the inner or outer cylinders?

Strangely it was 2 & 4 that died, hence my other post about plug type, I'll figure it out eventually.

Lol, just found the answer to that! Thats odd?? Could it be something to do with your coil pack playing up?

Cheers guys that's exactly what I thought, now I need to figure out why two BPR6ES plugs died simultaneously after about 18 months. As an aside it was plugs 2&4 that died, very strange.

Possibly but if it was a dodgy coil pack I would have thought it would have taken out either 1&4 or 2&3. I'll see how the new plugs hold up.
