I have a Saab 95 and now and again it gives me an engine fault light, but there seems to be nothing wrong with the car. So I though that I might see if I could get some software to interogate the ECU codes. I have seen things like this on Ebay

When I was in ths States I went for a nose into a car shop, the name escapes me now. Anyway in there they were selling a complete handheld scanner, to plug in and then read/erase fault codes. If you look on ebay they are available from the USA for really not a lot of money, so long as you are prepared to wait a week or so for it to come.

I have now joined a Saab forum and use the SEARCH button, clever eh. It looks like my model of Saab is OBDII so just buying a lead and getting the software should do the trick. Also as Saab is GM it looks like most Opel software will work. http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk

I bought a code reader from one of my suppliers it was £25 it reads the codes off in the form of numbers and you have to look up the number in a book to see what the fault is. It also clears faults. It is an amazinf piece of kit for the money. It woorks on just about anything that is OBD11 and pre canbus. I will have a look at it tommorow and let you know the make of it. I cant for the life of me remeber it and I use it atleast once a week. |

I should speak to you about this on the phone really Ben, but I'll go halves as I want a poke around the Spec B. It's OBD11, so we'll need the same bit of kit. Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph
