So what does my Metro Challenge car draw?

These are the typical things running a dry race.

1 x metro turbo hi pressure fuel pump
2 x Facet red top interupter fuel pump
Luminition ingnition firing the sparks
Rev counter(no backlights in any gauges)
transponder for lap timing(very low draw I am sure)
Brake lights

Other items not always used....

Rad cooling fan, modern 10 inch race type
Single fog rear light
Rear lights
Head light, low beam only
Yamaha R1 rad cooling fan as screen demister

Just making sure I have enough alternatorage...

Would be pleased if someone knows the typical amps these items would draw.

I turned everything on on my mini to see what was drawn, iirc it was around 30 amps.

This was with a rear screen and full beam on.

I might be able to send you a clamp meter (needs to be plugged into a normal multimeter) to stick round your positive lead to measure it if it's any help?

Rev counter and transponder aren't worth mentioning the bulbs I can work out this evening. Are there any details on the facet site?

Will, may be worth a look at later.

Bat, looked on Facet site, no joy, same with GPR and demon tweeks catalogues.

Someone must know what a turbo pump draws?

I was wondering a similar question on the turbo pump - the nearest I can come to an answer is on the passion ford site. The 2wd cosworths were famous for burning out the fuel pump wiring, they replace all the wiring with 8awg cable and 30a fuses.

The pumps are bosch 023 (i'm unsure how similar these are to metro pumps but they cant be a million miles away)

But anyway 30A fuse seems very high to me - I cant see these things drawing more than 15A at full flow/pressure - but that is just a guess....

sorry the 023 is the in tank version 941 is the pump i was thinking of

Ok, I'll grab clamp meter when I get the chance on Thursday anyway. I can then atleast measure what my pump draws for you. I do know that at tickover the TT drawas a constant 4 Amps. Most of this is the fuel pump.

Will out of interest have you ever measured your total current draw is @ full boost and high revs?

No, I guess I could with a bit of thought. Problem is all the monitoring kit I have access to is mains powered. Maybe on the next RR session it could be done.
