I've just got my mini insured with HIC.
I've told them what it's worth. But they said I need to get an independent valuation done. Can Anyone on here do one for me ?
As i dont know anyone where i live that can do it.

Cheers :)

With some other makes, Insurers will only accept an agreed value if the valuation is performed by a body such as a recognised owners club - Club Lotus is an example that springs to mind (another one of my projects...)

Usually the Insurer will tell you who they will accept the valuation from and provide a form of their own to be filled in by the valuer.

I though that you could generally agree a value just by a declaration. They must have limits that they will allow though. For example if you wanted to have an agreed value of 15k on a mini thay may want proof.

I have my hillclimber insured for 8.5k with no proof needed.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Just ask them for an evaluation form. You just need to write the spec/condition of your car in detail and attach some pics.

I did mine recently like this with HIC.

I done mine with A Flux, i had to write down all my mods and take photos of the following: Front, Back, Both sides, engine bay and interior.

I then said it was worth 2.5k and they wrote to me and agreed

I've just called them back up.
And another person said, they will send me a evaluation form. fill it out, then send back along with copys of recipts and some photos. and if we agree the valuation. then thats fine. if we dont, then your need to get an independent Valuation done.
the women before told me different.
Oh well lol sorry about that :)

Cheers.

Was that agreed by pictures and reciepts ? I said £10.000, but i might say £7.000, as deep down thats what it's worth to me.
but if i say 10, they might say get a independent valuer,
as i've only got about £6.000 ish worth of reciepts.
plus should i send a copy of what i brought the car for, doe's that also count ?
I wander if the price with come down a little if i do say 7 ? :)
I was quoted £188.64p plus of course the £15 for the valuation.

Cheers.

Oh bugger.
coz i've been with performance direct under classic insurance all the time.
i didn't realise you dont get any no claims bonus with them.
so as i was quoted with HIC with my 0 no claims, the price was £188. now i've had to tell them i don't get any no claims. :( so it went up to £289.

Hi,
Although you don't get any no claims discount with PD you can still prove x number of claim free years and get discount off HIC? PD should do you a letter if HIC ask for proof...
Cheers,
Gavin :)

yep,

HIC gave me a massive discount when i started a new policy bassed on the fact that the other policy that i am still runing has 10+ years no claims,

yust had to show them my policy.

I was on a classic car policy previous to joining HIC. With this I wasn't able to build no-claims because they are not taken into account with quotes on classic car policies.

However, after speaking to my previous insurer, I was able to get proof of no claims sent to me. With that HIC were able to grant the no-claims bonus.

That's idea worth trying. i wouldn't of thought they would send you that, seeing you dont get no claims with most classic insurance. didn't your last insurance company ask why you wanted it, or even say we can't do that at first ?

Knowing my luck, there say, sorry we can't do that, as you dont get no claims Bla Bla.

Cheers.
