I had it all setup not a couple of weeks ago and seemed to be running well, then it started to sound a bit like a tractor, spluttering alittle. I could smell petrol a little more than normal, so i took it back, on the day it was driving so bad i am not sure how i got there, then suprise suprise, he changed the plugs and everythig was ok. drove home no issues. started it this morning sounded like a tractor, and would not drive or rev.
this is what i have checked.
I have a spark at all the plugs. new ones aswell, so i don't think it is the coil pack, when i switch the MJ off its the same
I have changed the ht leads still the same
I have cleaned the sensor
I have checked compression all around 14lb
no oil in the water
I am running a 45 weber, float seems ok, and when i pull the throttle fuel jets out, though i am not sure if it is supposed to continues.
this is what it sounds like and its doing my head in *frown*

i have checked the pip and saw and have a charge running through which would irradticate the ecu. maybe timing, though this has only just been setup. sucking air in from somewhere??

Back to Fucking Tool status

mine ran crap when it was over fueling loads, it killed 3 sets of plugs in 2 weeks. have you put new fuel lines in? as it is a carb when you open the throtel fuel normally squirts out alittle.
is the manifold gasket ok? have you replaced this? checked for air leaks or holes in the exhuast ect?

I went back to aldon on friday, ran really crap to get there, then was fine on the rollers, he changed the plugs and worked fine, got home no probs.
I am going to change the manifold gasket, have put a new back box and link pipe in today.
No i have not put new fuel lines in
when i open the throttle fuel squirts out for a short time then stops,

well it is still not running, i have checked the exhaust manifold for leaks, changed the exhaust manifold, re-set the tappets to 18tho, stripped the weber down and cleaned it all with an air compressor. bypass the fuel regulator. I have checked i have a spark from each lead using one plug and have a top banana spark. I have fuel in chambers as plugs are wet. I am going to change the plugs again to see if they were faulty. i am using ngk bpre6. Other than what i have done, i think i need to take the head off. anyone got any other thoughts or ideas. or even better anyone around b'ham could drop by, would be soooooooooooo appreciated.

Hi,
What's the compressions like before you pull the top off?
Edit: I see you've check the compression already.
I wouldn't pull the head unless you're sure you need to, those comps seem ok.
I'd use 7 plugs, but that won't stop you getting it started.
Timing ?
Does it not run at all now?

only runs for a short time like a tractor, i will change the plugs this morning. it could be under fueling, but i have not got a fuel pressure gauge to check, but do have fuel coming through. the little i can check with the timing appears ok.

thats a good point... i has a similar issue when the keyway on the wheel wore away and was giving all kinds of dodgy readying to the EDIS

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

just sounds like over fuelling and then killing the ngk's.

they dont like lots of fuel in them.

today, i have put my distributor back on and starts up. looking at the time mark which is at 10 degress, this suggests the timing is ok. how do i check the mj and coil pack edis 4 unit to see if one of this is not working
