Hi,

I have a smiths centre speedo to put in my dash, just need to know how to wire it in.

It has the small fuel gauge in the bottom and on the back it has 3 spade connectors, what goes to each of these?

Also there are three lights showing on the front of the clock, do i have to put bulbs in here to light them up, i.e full beam etc.

Also there are 2 holes in the back for illumination, what is the best bulbs to use for this?

Thanks

Jon

There should be a voltage regulator mounted at the top, this changes the raw 12v from the battery to supply 10v to the fuel guage and any other guages Thats probably the 3 terminal thingy.

The fuel guage gets 10v from the regulator at one connector and the fuel sender signal at the other.

Yes if you want the little lights to light up you need bulbs!! the original has special holders that clip into the holes, most only have 1 wire and get the ground from the speedo casing so you also need to ground the casing. The oil light is different it has 2 wires.
The smiths guages were used on most 60's 70's cars I found spare light holders at my local scrappy, look for MGB TR etc...

If you are converting from a 2 indicator dash ( i.e one for left one for right) to the single green one on the Smiths you need to get creative with diodes to make a single light work..
