Hi again.. I searched everywhere but cant seem to find the info.

Would anybody have a clue about this oil pump.
Good for a high rpm engine or should I get something better?

Thanks again

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

its a steel backed pump and should be up to the job

if you want to spend a few sheckels more on a supaflow pump from Avonbar ... so be it

Hi,
You only get one chance to do this right, so spend money on a top quality pump, your engine will thank you for it *wink*

Avonbar sell the powerflow steel backed one. Isn't the supaflow the ally backed version minispares used to sell?

Minispares "turbo" one is now the steel backed Powerflow one (much to Avonbar's dismay, I'm sure) - I have one on the bench, bought only a couple of weeks ago.

I guess even MiniSpares eventually respond to customer requirements :)

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

yes i ment to say powerflow gents

having said that matt wood (AKA... miniwilliams runs the standard steel backed one from minispares £11 with no bother and mats engines churns over 200bhp out he says he has had no issues with pressure etc... todate!

the choice is yours

i also run the standard steel back pump, no probs and works well.

however if you run oil squirters then i would fit the larger capacity pump.

biggest killers of pumps is debris from the sump, eg swarf, most swarf will come from cams and followers if you run the 1.5 or 1.7 rockers and will kill even the best pump in know time.

since i swapped from 1.5 to 1.3 roller tip rockers my oil pump has last for years and every time i strip i ended given it a clean and refitted it.

how ever for my new engine she was graced with a new £14 one.

what ever you fit make sure it has a steel back as these will last alot longer than the alley back versions.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

Fit a secondary magnetic pick-up in the oil pick-up pipe at the back of the gear box above the drive cup. The amount of crap that has stopped getting to my pump is scary!

Those extra magnetic traps are dangerous to your engine, especialy the one without the strainer.

Crap builds up on the magnet to the point that there is enough there to either block the passage, or even slug a huge chunk of crap into the oil pump.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Mine works perfectly all the crap collects aroud the magnet and in no way obstructs the oil flow path. The fact it gets covered in debris proves its worth IMHO.

I clean mine in paraffin with the aid of an air line to shift the stubourn bits.

Why in gods name would you fit one that does not have a strainer!!!!!
