Just been getting the car running today, im not using my MJLJ as im awaiting delivery. However i do get a spark, at the mo im having flick the throttle to keep it going.

Just wondered if it would run just on the edis. Ill probably just wait til my MJ arrives.

I have a dizzy, ive removed and plugged the hole, its ran for about 30 secs on Dizzy. Really im just pissing about until the MJ Arrives, idle hands and all that. Thanks for the offer anyway, i just wondered if it would tick over thats all.

Can't see why not. Afterall with the dizzy in you'd have around 10 degrees of advance at idle...

Yes it will, Did it last week,

You should do this anyway to make sure the sensor position is correct and you see 10 degrees on the timing light..
At idle a dizzy would be at around 20-25 degrees (with vacuum connected) so it will idle a little lower, but you can raise the carb setting to account for that.

yes as has been said, it will run fine and smooth with the edis, just you might have to turn the tick over up a little to take up for the lack of timming.

Well yesterday it sounded like it was running on 2, probably a bad signal or a bad lead. More investigation will be had this weekend.

Right Chaps, got a spark on all 4, topped up dash oil, running rough as a dog, has no exhaust on im assuming its the edis/bad signal to spark. Also my fuel pump doesnt sound healthy, it gets louder all of a sudden (if anyone has heard a pc processor cooling fan with frigged bearings, it sounds like that)

Its the one thats silver with blue plastic on the outside. it has a wide opening at 1 end and a narrow end at the other, im assuming the big end is the inlet and narrow outlet?

Any help would be great

Yeah, big hole in little hole out. Check there's no swarf/crap in the inlet.
Sound ok for no exhaust, does it rev cleanly?
Pump does sound ropey though...

sounds ok to me (the car that is) i couldnt really make out the pump, i'll take another listen.

No you have to hold throttle fully open for it to run.

Try swapping the coil pack negative wires round, check the timing.
Did it run ok with a dizzy in?

No i mean there was prob with the piping, so it ran decently and revved but cut out when the bowl emptied.

Deffo a prob with the lectrics.

Swaping the negatives ie. pins 10 and 12 on edis or the wiring at the coil pack, whatever is the easiest. You might be 180 degrees out (not sure it is though, as usually it would back fire like hell if that was the case).

Ok, also can i postition the Sensor anywhere on the crank? Or does have to be 90deg? Its one of Toms machined pulleys??

The pump sounds f76cked to me though, might need to source a new one!

Ok, moved sensor, runs decent. Like yas said i needed to up tick over, im really suprised how quickly it revvs up!! Very resposive, one thing, do straight cut drops rattle a little? Im gunna get it in gear tomoz and check everything goes correct, but there is a slight rattle from the bell housing. And the fuel pressure doesnt rise when I revv it, is this due to no load?
