I have checked the wiring connections and they are all ok.

what about that orange relay? mine was buggerd changed it and the light worked :) Drives

Try a new switch first. The headlights should not come on at the centre postion, unless you are just seeing the sidelights. Saul Bellow - "A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep."

The lights should operate independant of the ignition switch. Have you got a good earth on your new solenoid? I learnt recently (thanks Gavin :) ) that duff earths have a lot to answer for |

I'm with Paul, could be the switch has died, especially if you have fitted brighter lights/bulbs.

The earts are all o.k, have checked them all and everything else works fine its just the headlights.

You did not answer the question on the lights coming on in the center position... so do they come on bright 1/2 bright or full??

quickly whip the cowling off and check all onf the contacts and clean them up.
