I had a letter from the DVLA last week regarding the pug 205 I had for 6 weeks at the beginning of the year. I traded it at a car sales place back in March... however they clearly have not done anything with the v5 despite passing the car on (I received 2 letters from the police regarding the driver of the car... another story)

I wrote back to them explaining the situation in full and providing a printed copy of the letter I wrote in June to notify them I no longer owned the car. However, they claimed they have never received my original letter and are still persuing me for the £80 fine.

So pissed off about it and I don't know what to do. £80 is a lot to spend on fuck-all. Doubt I'll get any joy if I chase the garage for it... and the DVLA don't appear to be budging an inch.

Any suggestions?

As above ^^^^ probably your only hope! How come you didn't keep the V5 and send it off yourself?

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Hi,
I had the reg swapped to my new bike, 13 months later when it had no tax and I'd had no reminder I found out the bike was supposed to still be in the showroom as far as the DVLA were concerned! *surprised*
Go on the website and send a snotty email, soon got mine sorted *wink*
Cheers,
Gavin :)

with some of the previous hassles i've had with DVLA, some my fault, some theirs, I always keep a copy of everything I send them.

Some form of reciept for your new car/ trade-in will help but I think I'm correct in saying it remains the the responsibility of the seller to notify the DVLA even if you are trading in - something I didn't do recently when we changed cars I must admit.

If you are successful in your fight, I'd suggest you state in any correspondence a cost for each letter you send to them in connection with the case. A friend tried this a few years back in similar circumstances and successfully got a cheque for his time!

a LIL fishing village on the coast - Newcastle Upon Tyne

then the bike gets found and the paper trail leads back to you showing that you sold it....super idea you get off with the £80.00 but get slapped with a criminal record and probably a fine circa £200

PSML *happy*

I’ve got a mini.

Been inspected by VOSA
Been inspected by the police
Been inspected by the DVLA

CAT D write off (repaired)

A 30 year old car that has been extensively repaired, there were no marking on it at all apparently.

Now they want to q plate it and make me go through an SVA test with it!.

It’s a normal mini with a body kit and no inner wings. That’s it, it’s not a kit car it takes the piss, it’s not a kit car.

Rant over!

I now have a car that:

Im not aloud to work on atall.
I cant move it unless by trailer.
I cant sell.
I cant mot.

Thats bull, a car of that age only needs to display its registration plates. No other markings need to be present and thats from the big blue book. Mine has been modified to hell and back and due to the plate it carried thats all that was required. If I were you phone up your local MOT station and get that clarified pronto!

There are markings on your car i dont have on mine.

such as the channel on the scuttle, it has a number in it. mine doesnt.

the only thing that dates the car back to 1977 is the winder mechinism in one of the doors.

this is what they have made me do.

when they say it needs an sva test im going to scream and shout and tell them to bugger off.
