As you may have read in the wanted section I'm on the lookout for an engine or bits of engine to put one together after Morspeed totally let me down with a 1380 kit.

Any opinions on this as a base?

if its for a turbo I would not go for a 1400... Its scrap when the bores are worn... also I wouldnt touch Jon/jokespeed myself...

yes a 74 mm bores would leave it quite thin in the bores, it would prob be ok if low com and low boost, but the biggest bore i would use for blowing would be 73.5 mm.

I did look at this but I have a new straight-cut A+ gearbox ready and waiting, am I right in thinking I wouldnt be able to put that A block on my A+ box.

Pretty sure the "A" and "A+" box/block combination can be mixed and matched?

i would agree 74mm would leave it too thin, go with 73.5, and look at having some work done on the crank to bring up the cc

A+ and A can be used together, but you need to to use either A+ or A drop gears.

Drop gears are specific to gearbox casing, it wont matter whether A or A+ bockes are used

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
