clock tower with a sniper rifle

Have enjoyed my evening mocking around the saab ic in the engine bay, have come up with two positions that seems to be ok…ish. What do you guys think?

Example 1, will cut out the size of the cores in the bonnet, air filter will go under it, hardly any bends to the plenum, no modding of ic.

Example 2: Maybe fitting a double 3" duct in the bonnet that goes to a shroud over the ic? Or a nasa duct? Will have to reposition one of the outlets. One more 90 bend than the flat mounted version, air filter pos same as ex. 1

cheers

the first option seems more sensible to me. well ducted and shrouded in and possibly out (into the wheel arch?)

any pics of the plenum inlet and supercharger outlet?

that would give better ideas on pipe runs etc.

come to think of it, on the other post about the supercharger i cant recal seeing the inlet to it..just the outlet...meh im just rambling now!

Thanks James, i haven´t made the plenum yet, but heres a couple of sc pics, outlet will facing backwards, air inlet is facing the ic, i will probably turn the compressor housing another "click" to make it point slightly upwards. Sc is riding high in the pics, will be a couple of cm lower when the bracket is done.

Just be careful that rad doesnt throw too much hot air into the intercooler making an interheater

You'd be best to swap rad and intercooler positions around. If the IC was behind the rad then by the time the air reaches the IC it would be quite warm. *oh well*

Hi,
^^ What they said! In front of the rad or on top and ducted out into a lower pressure area *wink*

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

dont mount it like it the first pic ......... you will suffer a massive heat soak and as Nic points out an interheater.

aim it towards the airstream infront if possible

and do paint it mat black as it gives up its heat 25% more than any other colour *Yes* *wink* *wink*

Thanks boys, i have to sort another rad then, and sidemount it…about 30x30 cm or so. Mini one is to high for sidemount and mpi is probaby to long and have the outlets in the wrong places. Any tips of very small rads is welcome! Maybe i can sandwich two bike rads?

thanks

I think your best option might be a charge cooler. There is just no space for a decent air to air IC under the bonnet. With a chargecooler you can put the rad somewhere else, and they are generally smaller than an air to air cooler.

Wil, the saab intercooler fits in place of the mini rad, cores matches the grill almost perfectly  If i fail to find a good side rad that works i will have a look into charge coolers, they seem to be a bit expensive and complex compared to a air/air ic though!

I like it.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

nice one is it the c15 model? they go for quite a bit brand new 1,500 if I'm not mistaken, how much did you pick it up for? I was planning on using one myself but found a t3 for 50 squid and realised turbo's the best idea lol. You gotta run an oil system through that aswell? you thought where you putting the oil cooler for it?

na it´s a C30 with 94 compressor (a bit big tbh), and it uses the engine oil instead of it´s own system as the late one does.
I have a 7 row oil cooler that i will set in front of the sump if needed, will check temp first. Picked it upp for about £500 – as you say they are pretty expensive new!

That is a big bugger. Wow. Thought the engine oil was to thick for the SC. What psi you wanting to run up too?

74 compressor would be optimal, but i guess you could have some more hp on top with the 94? Engine oil is ok, rotrex have their "own brand" that they charge stupid money for though! I think the charger maximum is 1,5 bar‚ don´t know what that is in psi?
No idea what i will se whit the pulley ratios i got, maybe i blow up the engine *smiley*
