yep replace it, chances are the insulation will go brittle and flake off meaning it will short again.

its a good job its been off the road 15 months without a battery because it could have got real bad

I had a lot of trouble with my old mini, the ignition switch kept melting, I finally unwrapped the loom and replaced all the chared wires! I never had a problem after that!

I was feeding some wires through for a central ignition switch but forgot to disconnect the battery, so the live ignition feed caught the body, sparked and caught fire. The cover of the spade connector has melted and the wire (obviously) got very hot. There is no break in the wire, but is the wire likely to be damaged in any other way? Should I run a new wire to be on the safe side?
