I have been using det cans on my car when setting up seems to do the job fine, So far ran upto a bar without blowing headgasket melting pistons etc, this is with watching the fueling on a wideband. There is alot of background noise from the box and drops but it seems to work ok! |

Well at the minute im using a mechanics stephoscope (sp) bolted to the head and extended to the drivers seat with rigid tube so you can listen. There are lots of discussions about it on other forums just type in det cans in google. It cost about a fiver from machine mart. I set my mini up with this last year as well as my r5gtt. Very crude but seems to work and a lot cheaper than a electronic unit. |

No definately not a piss take commonly used in the renault scene and impreza by the look of things! Think stevieturbo uses this method aswell seen a couple of his posts on the pistonhead forum. |

I think the PoleStar can be bought with a knock sensor. If anyone has the software they could check what settings are modelled.

The electric DIY versions are good, but they really do pick up so much background noise it can be hard to hear detonation.
