Im terrible with leccy stuff, Ive had this problem before and cant remember how i fixed it (but remember what an absolute ball ache it was to track down!!)

They were working fine a few days ago, now when I try to indicate (either way) or try to use the hazzards, there is a loud scratchy buzzing noise coming from either behond the dash, or on the bulkhead, and none of the lights come on...

Any suggestions, i really could set this car on fire right now, really!

Cheers

Joe

^^try bypassing the flasher with a bit of wire to see if its that,

if it was head lights i would say relay or an earth, it can cause the contacts to chatter really fast but its not..

is it possible for you to determine more precisely where the sound comes from (stick your head under the bonnet see if its louder) chances are the sound would lead you right to it.

does the indicators flash when the noise is happening, and does it do the same with the hazards?

Hi,
Bridge the flasher out and see if the lights work. Chance are you have still have a problem the hazzard switch or the column could cause problems with both sides.
If one side works fine then wiring, bulb holders and earths for that side.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

bingo, cheers guys

ended up ripping the dashboard out and found the sodding thing buzzing away screwed onto the bulkhead behind the airvent duct

its a drc8626 19fl 12v flasher, all my other minis have different old school ones, so will have to order a replacement

when searching for 'indicator problems' this morning i spotted a post about swapping the old relays for electrical ones out of metros, vauxhalls etc, but i cant find that post now, anyone know the part number is ??

either will do, one pin goes to the oldschool mini "b" terminal, one to "L" and the otehr pin on the relay should be earthed :)

turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

Hi,
You can use later mini ones, Metro ones, Ford ones, Rover ones, Vauxhall ones. The French ones are sometimes strange, keep well away!
