As the title states.

Looking to give more room at the front of the engine so looking to re-position the alternator towards the back of the engine bay.

Ive been told it can be done but ive found nothing on the web on how.

Can anyone help?

have you looked at the nippon denso alternators? alot smaller than the standard item and a damn site easier to fit than moving your alternator to the back.

there are alot of people here packing alot into the fronts of round nose minis, and using the nippon alternator.

how much room do you need? and what do you need it for?

remember an alternator unlike a dynamo can be spun in either direction and still produce power. Can sometimes be useful if you want to move it somewhere else.

like the honda engine boys do where they mount the alternator into the inner wing where a side mount rad would normally reside!

turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

Does anyone have pictures of a nippon denso alternator mounted... the one that James mentioned?

Another thing to bear in mind is that some formula type cars like formula fords have the alternator belt driven from the inner cv joints although this will turn it a lot slower.

I changed my altenator the other day and had an idea which seemed to work. Just unbolted it then reattached but turned 180degrees so the adjustment hole was at the top and the altenator was just behind the curve of my round nose bonnet, would need to make an adjuster for it though, along with the other clearance issues.
