"reshape starter cog with a grinder"

are you joking?

Basically, you have swapped 2 different sorts of starter, both with different amounts of teeth. You need the right one for the right flywheel basically!

All your doing now is chewing up the ring gear on the flywheel, so will have to replace not only the starter, but that as well.

I doubt if anything has changed since you first asked...

http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=252688

If you have the wrong combination, it's wrong - as simple as that.

Some people on some other forums say you can "get away" with it one way around and "it will just be noisey"....

But then it will break.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

Pre engaged starter on an inertia ring gear can and does work, but requires a spacer that Rod S mentioned. However, the problem you experience is a side effect of this combination. It is far from ideal as you have found.

If you have an inertia ring gear you could fit one of the modified toyota starters. Much better solution.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I have a verto ring gear, and tried this with an old starter. That went solid *wink*

on minifinity you can do all sorts of magical stuff with a grinder like turning down your own discs on car, were just not as 'hands on' on this forum...

People on this forum tend to spend to much time and money to cut corners.

As for the sub woofers, why do you want them in the the rear bins? The sound will be all wrong, you know that really they should be fitted on the parcel shelf.

There's a 'how to' guide on Minifinity, all you need is a grinder, some self tapping screws and some sticky backed plastic.
