I bought a sandwich plate type from Merlin - about £44.00 inc the fittings IIRC

You can just see it here

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

Thanks, everyone. From your post cossierick do I infer that the VW will fit, or was it just by way of illustration -they dont seem to have one specific to an A series ?.

It quotes a thread size of 3/4 UNF and I think you will have to use a smaller filter - as I said I use Ford Ka halfords own as champion is too large - don't know what size the Motorcraft (OE FORD) filter is

Is that with the standard front subframe or in your case the bit that is normally there on a steel car?

Joe, can of worms mate.lol

Basicly i was just having a multipoint cage welded in the mk1 shell i had, but the sugestion of a spaceframe made me ask the question on how much more so the decision was made.

Then as the the car was just going to be built as a general toy the brief was given to keep all mini suspension pick up points as they should be to keep the cost down so in theory all there was to do is join up the dots with tube.

The reasons for the spaceframe is one, it was nice to be different and two, i wouldnt have to weld up another old rusty mini 5yrs down the line.

Obviously thinking about it i could of moved suspension points or used somthing different and made it out of different more up to spec for racing tube aswell.
