I am just installing a bypass valve and need a vacuum takeoff after the throttle plate. Is the part throttle leanoff pipe connection at the mounting flange OK?

I cant remember if its just a drilling into the inlet or has other airways, dont want to remove the carb to take a look!!

i seem to remember it not giving a vacuum at idle. If that is correct then it cant be used.

As above. It will not create vacuum at idle there, or basically on closed throttle.

Any takeoff needs to be between throttle plate and the intake valves.

Easiest just to go to the inlet manifold.

I have connected my boost guage here and it gives both positive and negative pressure reading, just as I would expect. It pulls a normal vacuum on the over run and has read up to 15lbs boost so I dont see why it would not actuate a BOV

LOL typical..1 against, 1 for and one sitting on the wall.. I love this forum!!

If anyone has a carb off can they look if the drilling.. is on the engine or aircleaner side of the butterfly?

If not I can just put a vaccum guage on it as suggested, or get off my ass and install the pre-drilled vacuum boost takeoff bolt I have stashed away somewhere..

there is no vacuum at idle, the whole way the lean-off pipe works, it apply's the manifold vacuum created at part throttle and apply's it to the float bowl, this leans out the mixture, if it did this at idle it would stall

Well I guess Tadge did not use the fitting I was asking about as I got off my ass and stuck the vacuum guage to it and indeed there is no vacuum..

Now where did I stash that damn fitting....

Hi,
It's works the same way as the vac adv pipe, the butterfly blocks it off at idle. Best thing to use is one of those plastic spacers with the take off in it.
Cheers,
Gavin :)
