Right, in my other post I was enquireng about connection less a phone line, Im now thinking of having one connected. Are Bt the only people who can do reconnectons? they have just quoted me £122 for the privilage, also can anyone recommend a good package? At the moment paying £14 for 8gb (?) limit plus with tiscali. if I go with BT they will charge £11.50 line rental, plus they are trying to sell me a package, but to be honest I wont use the homephone for calls? Has anyone any better thoughts or solutions to this?
All thoughts greatfull,
Cheers
Shane.

I'm with Virgin Media, phone broadband and cable telly for £30 a month, TBH had no real issues with it, the cable tv box crapped out but they fetched a new one within a couple of days, get the thumbs up from me.

Try PlusNet.

I use them for my second line (with broadband). First line is with BT but Wifey works for them so that one is free....

The thing with PlusNet is that they offer lower prices than BT but are actually a wholly owned subsiduary of BT. Thus you still get the technical service/support, but cheaper prices.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

I did look at plusnet when browsing a comparison site. but then still have line rental and the reconnection fee (which I dont think will be avoidable, just depends who I have do it if BT arent the only ones that can)

Shane,

I've just been through this myself.

If it’s a new line you require e.g. new number only BT can connect you to the network. Which they own. And you’re correct about £120 for connection. No way round that unfortunately.

But if you can get cable that's a better option. Depending on if it’s available in your area.

I went for the BT option, phone and B'band. Because of the new customer deal they did. And it works fine for me.

But BT has you by the balls when it comes to getting a number.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

plusnet for me too, and all my family! its a good deal and works out to be £25 for phone and BB. no cable at my house *frown*

if the line is there, then it should be free to connect. mine was a new house so had to pay the full fee, bugger!

oh, if you go with plusnet, i'll recommend you, get money off each month then! ha ha!

Hi,
I hope Minus Net have improved since I left them, due to a throttled service and piss poor customer service.
I moved to IDNet, never looked back *happy*

Managed to get this sorted (hopefully anyway) managed to get a line with BT and not pay the 122 pounds I was worried I might get shafted with, and opted for their basic internet package which comes with wireless router. All going well should be "live" as of monday, but still yet to see the gubbins they are sending. Customer service has already proved crap, asked to have router etc sent to work address while making the order, and the pleb then told me after he had submitted the order he couldnt do it! NOT happy.
Cheers for the advise guys.
