Im currently selling one of my Cylinder Heads on Ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=270335250685

Would there be much work and expense in converting this to Turbo use? Or am i best flogging it and using the money to buy a Turbo head like i thought?

Cheers,

Mike

There is no reason why you couldnt have this cylinder head modified to suit turbo use.

However if it has been skimmed by too much you may not be able to have the combustion chambers opened up by much.

You could always take/send your cylinder head to one of the forums residient modifiers and get a verdict from them.

It's a common misconception that you have to use a genuine turbo head.

Would have thought you will make more money selling the one you have now. Buying a crusty old head, and have that worked to suit your turbo.

I would think that the 23.5 stamped on it is an indication of the combustion chamber size, so the chamber are already bigger than standard.

Valve sizes are ideal as well.

I would use this head as it is and select a piston dish to suit.

I agree with paul that the original spec of this head probably had 23.5cc chambers.
However I would definately check this as it is possible that the head has been skimmed since being modified.

Cheers lads.

What about the guides / Valves and seats. Would these have to be changed too?

As long as they are of a good quality and condition then there is no need to change them.

Some people relieve the exhaust valve guides a little to prevent the valves from pinching up when they get hot.

The valves are an unknown quantity to me, do you have something i could do a visual comparison against? I couldnt tell you a good valve from a bad one.

A nightware scenario for me would be a valve head snapping off
and shagging my engine up good and proper!

BTW, which resident cylinder head God would be nearest to where i live? (Liverprool)
