You lower the base height of the spring to lower the car, the damper will not hold the car up. Unlock the lock rings and wind them down. |

Otherwise it wont solve the bottoming out problem. I stated with huddersfirld that I wanted the ones for lowered Mini's, and theyve given me these, bastards...

http://www.minispares-online.co.uk/?cat_id...=62&prod_id=580 this may solve your problem :) extra lowered rear set from protec. also how long is the body of the shock? because the size between lowered and std is diffrent may help to find out if they are std or lowered :) Drives

You don't adjust the height of the car by winding down the springs. That's for adjusting the spring tension.

You don't adjust the height of the car by winding down the springs. That's for adjusting the spring tension. You BUY the correct height for starters. Nah you make adjustments by spinning the collar lower down the body of the shock so the coil isnt as compressed, when the car is back on its wheels with load it effectively makes the car lower as the shock is compressed more, but reduces travel. But yeah that does fook up the spring rates!
These types would be best because you can physically wind the lower shock mounth up the body on the thread, making the coilover shorter (making the car lower) but not effecting the spring rates!! |

Yeah thats what I thought, but I did ask the guy when I bought them if they'd be suitable for an extremely low car, and he said they would, prick lied to me, LIIIIIES! I doubt I can take them back now aswell, was almost two years ago I bought them. Almost £400 down the shitter!

The compression of the coil depends only on the weight resting on it. Moving the platform does not affect the spring rate! Geoff |

When I measure these ones, they are 14" between the top of the arch and the stud on the hub. Thats annoying, and is definatly going to set back my project by a few months! Gay! Cheers for the advice chaps, Ben.

Or if you didnt want to spent out on new coilovers i guess you could turret the arches, but make the turrets sit higher that the standard top mount height. So would lowwer the mini that way...

Don't forget whatever wheelarches you use will come out to the tyre, if you have tubbed the arches it will look daft without wheelarches on.
