hi
got it running this weekend drives really well just got a few issues. one being the ideal is very erractic? think its down to an air leak somewhere, will have to look into it. another is its not fitted with a dump or blow off valve. The pipe from the back off the carb is there and is blocked off? have ordered a dump valve but am not sure where the small pipe that goes to the top off it takes a vacum from?
also its running megajolt and want it mapping and the carb setting up on a rolling road. does anyone know a good place to do this in the north west? closest to Blackpool the better
thanks for all you help
jole

A picture would work wonders here.......

"the pipe from the back of the carb"??

The signal pipe for the dump valve needs to come from the engine side of the throttle butterfly, ie: inlet manifold area.

The small pipe from the plenum is usually used to feed a pressure signal to the fuel pressure regulator.

You cannot use this for the dump valve trigger, but it is fine for a boost gauge.

but generally boost gauges sense vacuum too...

You really want the dump valve trigger and the boost gauge pipe to come from the inlet manifold.

The standard 'poppet', over-boost protection thingy needs to be blocked.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

hi
have fitted the dump valve. took a vacum from the inlet manifold that is also used for the boost gauge and the map for megajolt. it seems to be working ok but the turbo still chatters/flutters when releasing the accelerator then the dump valve goes off! it this normal?
thanks jole

The experts will tell us, soon,I guess, but I suspect that either the dump valve or its associated pipework is undersized,or the vacuum signal is inadequate in some way.The dump valve should release the pressure quickly enough to stop any flutter, thats one of its uses.

I still get flutter and a dump.

As for Rolling roads, I've used Mikeanics in Congleton, he knows MJ and carbs.

Hi,
You may need to change the throttle butterfly in the carb if it has a valve in it for a solid one.
What type of DV is it?
Cheers,
Gavin :)
