I heard there charger cooler is a form of water filled blanket which goes over the charger and takes some heat out of the charger casing. Now thats just the rumour thats going round.

On a 'suck' through set up, there is no real way to cool the charge without suffering from massive wall wetting/ fuel film. This is the main reason why there is nothing to date.

If you want any sort of cooling, put the fuel in after the supercharger and cool the air before it mixes with the fuel

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

anything is better than nothing, although just cooling the charger casing probably have minimal effect,

If its that easy, why has no one done it?

Stuart at Vmax has developed a charge cooler which cools the top of the casing of the charger. I think the kit is £200. If im correct i understand that the system uses a red top fuel pump, heater matrix (or oil cooler) and a small heat exchanger which 'straddles' the charger. Ive spoke to a couple of people who hav them and have had mixed feedback about whether there worth it or not. Personally i found that wrapping the exhaust manifold with a decent wrap helped slightly.

Im just finishing up some mods to my vmax kit which have seen the introduction of a map sensor on the inlet manifold and the IAT sensor has also been relocated to sit in the inlet, rather than on the brake servo.

Once this has been done it will be back down to emerald for running adjustments and a power run etc.

Further to sprockets post above^ ive previously looked at those cryogenic kits you can get from demon tweaks but decided against it as i couldnt be arsed with paying for refills etc and i would want it on pretty much all the time, not just when i wanted peak power.

There is a supercharger chargecooler kit for 2.0 zetecs, where the charger bolts onto inlet. Something like that must be able to get made, but I'm guessing space is a pain!!

Indeeed, they can be made and i believe Stuart also developed one along these lines during the development of his kit. He later shelved it as i believe he had a few problems with solder joints blowing due to the extremely high intake temps and engines subsequently taking in the coolant!

I also believe they have problems with fueling as mentioned earlier. I guess the fuel droplets could accumulate on the cool surface of the heat exchanger/cooler.

Are we forgetting that the good ol A series supercharged engines are a wet system, and the Ford zetec is a port injection system????

The only real solution would be water injection

This is the only thing putting me off going s/c.

You can mount the charger on the front, but do you need much body mods?

They usually require mods to the front panel as a minimum and often the inner wing depending on how/where you run the alternator
