hi ive heard that the DVLA are bringing in a new test in the spring called an BIVA test that replaces the SVA test, apparantly this will need to be carried out on all heavily modded cars built after 1997. ive heard that to avoid a test the car must score a certain amount of points, but you loose points for every modification. does anyone have any more info on this? *frown*

Its probably bollocks

This keeps getting mentioned, and whilst im sure one day it will happen (and i think its probably a good thing), I dont see how they will be able to back date it

The IVA comes into force in April, and is 2-3 times the price of an SVA....at a minumum.

Its not backdating as such....if a car is too heavily modified in their eyes....it will require one of these Indivudual Vehicle Asessments in order to see if it is roadworthy, based on their stupid nonsense ideas of roadworthyness.

In short...its a revenue generator.

I just trawled the VOSA website and what a bunch of incompetant ***** - all the references to the subject had broken links, none of the "consultation" documents would open yet, despite the lack of information it does appear to start in April.

Typical of the state of government at the moment, desperate to raise revenue, but they can't even publish the details properly.....

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

In short...tell them fuck all for as long as possible.

If you try and do things legit by their stupid rules...you only end up getting shafted.

Hi
What Stevie says. I've heard of stories of people indavertantly tripping themselves up with SVA and causing a load of extra trouble to get on the road :(
Cheers
Gavin :)
