Hi everyone. Ok first of all i dont post much on here but i am on the site fairly often. If what im about to say / show has already been done then fair doo's.

Nehoo.... being unemployed and bored i decided to do something random.

First of all this is my workshop (aka the celler):

Started off with a piece of blank steel:

Cut / drill / and add a gasket to seal both faces of the carb and add blocking pipes to all the fuel and vac holes:

As you can see im using a quality halfords bike pump to pressurise the carb and check for leaks using fairy liquid. Actually i didnt need any liquid because i could feal the air rushing out because i was a fool and rebuilt the carb wrong*oh well* Once thats done though ill get hold of a boost gauge and make sure it dont leak
*happy*

Nehoo once ive rebuilt the carb im going to make a perpetual motion machine from an old alternator. *surprised*

It isn't that much different to the procedure that Austin Rover suggested. They just put it on a compressed air supply instead of a hand pump, and stuck it in a bucket of water.

Yer mine was leaking from the spindle seals. I dont think ive got them in the right way tbh.

metroturbo.... did they really do that!!?!?! i thought about using compressed air but i thought that it may be overkill.

Really i just wanted to try out my new pillar drill and ended up making those plates. hahahaha

Well the seal only has 1 leading flat edge which to much rebuild book goes towards the face of the carb and I used a socket to just push it firm against the face either side of the spindle and then turned the butterfly by hand which evened everything up and left it like that. whether or not it gave a good seal is beyond me but will check now.

Hi,
Yeah it's in the Rover W/shop manual that covers the ERA model. 15psi and lob it in a bucket of water!
Cheers,
Gavin :)
