Is the first inlet manifold better than the second one as it has the water intakes to cool it down or would it only heat up the manifold if the IC is keeping things cool?

My sister is so fit I won't show anyone her picture

If your using a totally standard install then plumbing up the manifold will most likely cool the inlet charge. But on an install with an efficient intercooler fitted, plumbing up the manifold would only heat the charge again.

prob viz said this too, i chopped off mine to make space, and the weather has been rubbish since!! i now find it hard to run on a cold day. carb icing bla bla,
up in the wicklow hills its cold every day!! doh, i still have snow!

I do agree all in all. just not sure its "an every day" car thing if you are not a bit of a fanatic (if so we all in right place eh1) could make it hard to live with on a frosty morning. eeemmmmmm cold starting in my girlfriends estate at 730 am in a frosty morning = frosty neighbours!!

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.
