Bit vauge, as i havnt really delved into the depths of posibilitys when it comes to turbo selection yet, so I guess this call for me to learn!

I have a T3 fitted at the moment, once the car has run in and i've put some use into/ironed out the problemo's etc i'll be looking at fitting a more suited turbo.

I've done some searching but already knew that the GT17's and T2's are a popular choice. I have a UK spec Nissan 200sx that im looking to upgrade in the future, it has a T25 with 0.48 AR as standard, I had a quick search before and have seen this turbo being discussed before, it seems the .48 AR is the right sized T25 for the a-series engines, correct?

At the moment these 3 turbos seem like a good option for me, with the T25 and the T2, I can use the mirage manifolds, advantage is that I already have the T25 (which gives me an excuse to ft a bigger turbo to my daily 200sx muuhhhahaha) so it would be a case of getting the mirage manifolds!! Am I right in thinking that the T2 uses a 4-bolt pattern hot side and the '25 a 5 bolt pattern? If I went with the T25 id have to fabricate a turbo elbow where as the T2 elbow can be bought straight from mirage?

With the GT17 the standard metro manifold can be retained!!

Which turbo would be best suited to my application? The engine is a 1293 5-port for use on circuits and road blasting.

I see Iain was/is using a t25 off a 200sx on mirage manifolds, how does the car perform?

I'm looking for prefferably the cheapest, easiest (ie. as little fabrication as possible) and most effective option but i'm not really sure what the pro's and cons of each turbo are?

Cheers guys

Rich, im pretty sure they all use 4 bolt turbo/manifold flange, the gt17/t2 are the same size, but im pretty sure the t25/t28's use a slightly bigger flange, im sure someone will correct if wrong

as for turbo choice? i havent a clue bud

i no the mirage manifolds accept both t2's and t25's so they must be the same flange fitment (4 bolt turbo/manifold flange)

iiiiiiiiiiinteresting! I got a bit excited then at the prospect of only have to buy a manifold and elbow before I can run T25 but just double checked on a search and found this thread:

Seems a funky 5-bolt flange pattern which is a shame, but not impossible obviously!!

Its just a case of deciding which will be the weapon of choice, im leaning towards the T25 seeing as theres a good working one currently flowing a comfortable 15psi about 20 meters away haha.

Scrap what i said if you dont want fabrication.

they can all be put on the metty manifold i believe with an adaptor plate....

custom downpipe obviously though..... and abit of messing with oil feeds and returns....

Rich I would go for the GT17. Its a more modern turbo with lighter internals and better efficiency but as you say it involves more fabrication work, sooooo its still pretty much up to you mate.
Properly not much help but hey !

Im amazed at the size and weight difference between the T3 and the GT. The Gt looks tiny compared to the t3! Im slotting my holes on the GT to fit the T3 manifold just like Robert has. I have also bought a Saab downpipe for £12 so its not that hard really, im also going to open out the inlet hole on the turbo to suit the more sqaure T£ Manifold.

I would go GT17 without a doubt, alot more modern and efficient and they love boost aswell! :)

What sort of boost level can the GT17 supply up to comfortably? I'm sure i've seen someone on here pushing 26psi?? Would this be out of the turbo's comfort zone?

The GT17 sounds like the plan then! I was curious if the '25 would be any good as its convinient that I already have one!!

Mike, thats pormising about the Saab downpipe, what shape is it, ie is it a 90deg elbow like the maniflow t3 downpipe? What OD? Trying to retain as much of the brand new system i've just put on haha, at £12 thats not as bad as I thought!!

Its hooks around on its self, so it needs cutting and re welding at 90 Deg, dont know what diameter buts really close the original down pipe. However fitting it will make taking the exhaust alot easier as the bolts are to the side.

yep i d agree with stef , i noticed a massive surge of power accidentally turning it from 12 to 17 aT AVON ..as stock the compressor is fitted to several vehicles running around 20 psi as well.
