o/t tacho on a diesel

Hi guys,

Id like to fit a tacho to my transit, apparently there is a wire coming out of the alt that gives a pulse similar to the coil on a petrol?

is it simply a case of finding which one and fitting any old rev counter?

or is there more to it than meets the eye?

The W terminal gives out an AC wave which is what Ford use for the rev counter trigger. As to what rev counter will work with it I've no idea :(

i think they need to be special tachos (i.e diesel specific) from what ive gathered off the web so far...

You'd be best using the "W"terminal, and getting an external tacho of ebay or from somthing like autostyle etc or perhaps the later model transit cockpit will plug strght in.

with the after markt ons there is a wire for ilumination an negative and the "W" teminal trigger wire that's all.
