is there a head steady that doesnt mount onto the thermostat or last exhaust manifold stud? would save having to remove it eachtime for head works etc.

take a look in the 'shows us yours' section for my car, there is a pic in their showing this engine steady. Going to have to update the post, got quite a few pics of the fabrication work which has been happening, roll cage, tubbing arches, rear bin removal closing rear bulkhead etc.
