heres the story
http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=172905

and it continues!

i had my mate replace 2nd gear, i had broken teeth off it snatching 2nd,

ben (maker of the kit) made me a new pulley to up my boost,
i increased the boost to 7-8 psi, then again to about 11psi where it is now.

i then fitted new gauges, head unit, carpet, sound deadening and late model seats, mats and leather airbag wheel and column.

i also put 10x6 minators with dunlop formula R semi-slicks and carbon metallic brake pads

had it retuned to eliminate "turbo lag"

went to the racetrack but had numerous issues, overheating, brakes locking up, gearstick popped out and the oil pressure fitting broke.

then i took it to a local mini racer guy and fitted new rubber cones at the front and adjustable suspension arms and spax gas adjustable dampers, also
fitted a rover alternator, 1 piece rad shroud, put a mechanical fan back on, fitted a heater core aux radiator

and took it to a dyno day

at wheels figure on a 30c+ day.

seems pretty low in comparison with other minis on other dynos but it made the highest HP beating two other sc-12 boosted bigblock minis and equal to a KAD 16v EFI twincam speedwell sprint showpiece

i also beat a VW Polo GTI in a straight line drag

and i'm now pulling it out now for a repaint and a freshen up, maybe a new cam but i cant decide which one or if to stick with my re-13T
also i am considering a longer diff for cruising and a lightened flywheel.

its also high time i had a nice paintjob so i am going to send a 1964 850 shell off for rust repair and paint and transfer the engine and running gear into that and go with a retro feel.

Very Nice!

I flipping love Aussie Clubby's wish I could have one over here!

Or maybe I should just move to Aus?

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

looks good been getting a thing for white cars lately. Ben's must be getting a very busy man. Have you tried a megajolt kit he does a good one.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

oh have you tried the car without the 1.5's? I wonder if you will get more or less power?

yeah the idle is too lumpy for my liking and it wont stay on. it needs to sit on about 14-1500rpm to idle smoothly.

i was considering removing the 1.5 rockers to tame it up a bit, and the guy who tuned it for me said it would be a bit better if it was leaner at idle, but then i run the risk of it leaning out which is very bad.

i think its pretty civil considering what it is, but i guess my standards are quite high.

it pots around at low rpm no prob, just the idle is not good, might have something to do with my setup or the re-13 as it was pretty lumpy before i fitted the charger.

ben did advise me to fit a megajolt actually
but i thought setting up the suspension would be money better spent, and i was right because it doesnt have a problem with wheelspin anymore.

and did you know ben built a starlet powered mini also? its one of the tidyest minis you've ever seen AND its packing huge power.. total sleeper because it looks like a standard car.

i am very lucky to have him close by! he helped me fit up my new pulley and he has been awesome for advice etc.

I will go turbo when i rebuild though simply because i want to intercool.
