Had to remould the corners to my fortech front chin spoiler.

In order to get a good release I coated the bumper in wax then covered it with clingfilm. Its the only way I have found of getting a good release every time unless you spend the cash and get some mould spray.

What type of glass are you useing the crap you get from Halfords or propper cloth?

Ive got some cloth, probably do 1 layer of that, backed up by the crappy loose strand type stuff.

Hmmmm, cling film, im not sure if i'd be able to get it on there without it creasing and going horrible.

Ive just put some wax on... I think ive put way too much on.......

Then once its waxed, im guessing I put the blue PVA stuff on, wait for it to dry? Followed by the resin and glass?

EDIT: Just phoned the bloke I bought it from,

First you put the wax on, and polish it off.

Then use a sponge to put a thin layer of PVA on and let it dry.

2 coats of Gel coat.

Then commence fibre glassing.

Apparently you should wax it 20 times or more so i'm told. A lot of places recomend breaking the mould in also by laying the fibreglass up and then removing it a few hours later.

If your useing polyester for christ sake put some goggles on that stuff will blind you!

Just having another conversation and from our experience we recon you will need to use atleast 3 layers of cloth. Due to the shape your moulding I take it your useing the lighter weight of cloth.

Erm, I have epoxy here, was going to use that as its supposed to be stronger, unless anyone can think of a reason not to?

The foam melted from contact with an epoxy glue I used on it, so im hoping the PVA etc shields it enough incase the epoxy resin does the same!

20! I waxed it 3 times, which the guy said should be enough...... fingers crossed :)

Ok Josh, 3 layers it is, to be honest I havnt looked through the garage yet to see what cloth it is we have, I just know its there, I'l look now.

Cheers,

Ben.

What do you mean by break the mould in Gavin? Wont I be laying the fibreglass up and removing it a few hours later anyway?

Ben looking at your mould the vertical faces which look like the untouched faces of the foam blocks seem square to the profiled face and to each other. These will need a slight chamfer placing on them due to the fact the cloth will shrink ever so slightly when the resin has cured and grip down on the mould.

The sloped sides will make it easier to release the moulding. And make sure you have a very good coverage of release agent on the mould.
