Howdy,

it's my first ever "Show us yours" post and I thought showing off the new (i.e. today) paint job was a worth while reason to post.

Many thanks to the guys at Mini Mine in Stoke...

Cheers,

Pottsy

Looks good! What red is that? How Did you make the bonnet vents? Got any more build photos?
Keep up the good work

Cheers Johnnymoran, appreciate the nice comments!

Alex, I "asked" for tartan red, it actually looks quite different in the flesh, prob because it's under flourescent lights at the moment. Vents; long story short I took a pattern mould off my mates Mini Marcos bonnet vents (we believe they were NACA ducts) then took the brave step of cutting holes in a brand new f/g front end to fit the vents back in individually. Thankfully there's very little filler in there, I'll pop some more pics in my blog thing... http://www.turbominis.co.uk/car/70/ cheers for the interest though *smiley*

Stefaz,

Great that you recognised it! I'll PM you when I'm back on the road so you can have a better look.

Thought an update was in order; got the Mini back and have had to "fettle" the front end and arches something chronic due to new A panels being unexpectedly replaced and the rear arch bodyside holes being filled during the paint job!

Any way, finally managed to refit the front arches and line up the Dzus clips. So back to where I was 4 month ago! Still, looks better in the sunlight rather than the paintshop above...

Cheers, Pottsy

At the moment it's still the standard 1275 Turbo, though I've added an intercooler/dump valve since it came off the road.

I have a "spare" turbo engine in the garage that I'll rebuild once I'm back on the road - funds and spare time are currently invested in getting the Mini back on the road though! Not really thought the next engine's spec yet - it'll be very much a second car so I can afford for it not to need to be "everyday driving" spec... :)

Those are very tidy looking brace bars, are they something that you fabricated yourself?

Wierd, the photos keep loading at different sizes every time I come back here!

svrdaniels - yes, the brace bars started life as tube and flat plate (bent 90ยบ to make the front edge brackets though) and some plates with captive nuts welded onto the bulkhead.

With the addition of a couple more brackets they doubled up nicely as mounting points for the front end, inadvertantly turned in to quite a tidy job! If and when I get the time I might add a gusset to the kink' that clears the bottom of the radiator. Maybe. Or maybe it'll be one of those "I'll get round to it" jobs...
