Bit of a pointless post really, but just chuffed as its rare that i go down the garage with specific intentions, get them all done and nothing goes wrong, so thought id best have a quick brag lol

Not really done much work on the minis recently as ive been concentrating on getting my boat ready for the summer, but as a bit of a spur of the moment sort of thing, me and ben are heading down to silverstone for the 50th celebrations in my British Open classic:

The car needed a few little body work jobs doing before the trip (some touch ups and i dented/scratched the drivers door opening it in the dark the other night) so ive dropped it into the bodyshop to get it looking tip top for the trip.

Mechanically its generally fine, apart from the balljoints are absolutley fecked, the disc dust guards are rubbing on the discs a shade (just gonna ditch them), and i need to replace the cintuetinollo/ditch finders with a spare set of A539's i have knocking about

with the car being in the bodyshop, ive had to dig out an old pair of hubs to recondition so i can just slap them on the BOC once its back from the shop, as i have a feeling its going to be a close shave (as these things usually are) between getting the car back and setting off

so here are the offending hubs before (been sat on the shelf for probably 6 or 7 years gathering dust/rust):

gave them a good shot blasting (f'fing love my blasting cabinet!), disa sembled, then a good rinse in the parts washer, came up like new!:

whacked on the new bj's, pattern parts unfortunately as no where seems to have genuine in stock :) :

gave them all the grinding paste/drill trick and you could feel the difference after, there were huge high spots out of the box.

evetually after pissing about with hundreds of shims i managed to get all of them nice and stiff (!)

a quick squirt with metal ready and a lick of por later and hey presto, new hubs!:

just need to order some wheel bearings tomorrow (thought i had some stashed, but no luck) and jobs a goodun, was pleased to get these done a dusted as i get breakdown paranoia when going on trips 'across' and its one less thing to worry about!

roll on silverstone!

Good job Joey,

You put grinding paste in the ball joints and spin them with the drill (then remove the grinding paste!). Like Joey said it removes any high spots within joint and gives a smoother running balljoint ball ball joint, joint ball.
