Hi,

Just picked the mini up today after it was rolling roaded at slarks. Its a little bit less power than i was hoping for but its a great start and its still very quick. Am really impressed, drove home to torbay and loved every minute of it, even if it was a little bit loud.

Going to be using it for the show season and then updates over next winter will include new exhaust manifold and get some more work done on the head.

Heres the rolling road results, let me know what you think:

Cheers

Jon

Hi,

It is N/A for now, could change in the future though.

Its a 1330 with Kent 296 Cam, and Hif44 carb, which is why i would have liked it to be slightly higher.

I bought the engine complete over the net and after speaking to Neil at Slark racing it appears that the head could do with some work which is why it is not developing full power. Also a new exhaust and inlet manifold will help better flow. These are to be done over next winter as for now it runs great.

Heres a couple pics of the car:

Hi,

In total it was about £200 worth of rolling road.

We had a problem in the beginning though that the trigger wheel for the megajolt was moving so probably wasted an hour there sorting that.

Slarks charge £55 per hour plus vat, seem to do a great job though.

Cheers

Jon

If it was at the wheels it would be BHP would'nt it? As oppose to just HP like whats on the dyno sheet.

Looks tidy looking car Jon, i hope I get a simular power to what you have got.

Heres the spec of the engine I was given when I bought it. Not sure what stage the head would be though so not too sure if it is enough for the job:

It is an a+ block bored and honed +60 with omega piston.
Kent 296 scatter cam.
New followers.
New oil pump.
New big ends, mains and thrust washers.
Centre oil pickup.
Lightened duplex chain kit.
The block was decked 10 thou.
The head is a big valved mg metro 12g940 which has been polished and ported.
The head has had 30 thou skimmed off it and the valves were all re seated.
It has double valve springs.
Its on a 3.647:1 diff ratio

What do you think, is the head decent enough or should i be looking to get something like a slarks stage 3?

Thanks

Jon
