Hi does anyone have any advice on chopping away the rear arches. I am looking to use a coilover setup and rear beam. Anyone got any pictures of this type of mod?
Cheers
Sam

if you buy the offset rear coil overs i believe that no mods are needed and i think the beam axle just bolts straight up onto the healboard

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

I am talking about taking metal from the top of the arches so that the car can be lowered further

i noticed some people have the lip swaged into the arch, while others have it swaged out, i had mine swaged out

the bloke slit the arch in say 1" intervals, then folded each bit up at 90 deg to rear quarter, where he then let the sheet into the arch itself

i'll have a word with iain when he gets back to work this afternoon so he can upload the pics for me.

ive just finished tubbing me rear arches. wasnt that bad really(made a lot easier because i was renewing the rear seat back to so once that were out there was easy accses)
i did it by chopping the arch out like jimster did then welding a new strip in.

the only problem now is and something to watch out for if anyone else does thes is that i seem welded around the new arch and quarter panel and the heat has warped the panel quite badly, im hoping me arches are gonna cover it *smiley*
so make sure you keep the heat to a minimum

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

yep i've got slight distortion for about and 1" all the way around the arch lip

must admit i was hoping for the arches to cover it!

Old topic I know, but this is a choice picture.

LMFAO

No thought for health and safety here, lol, watch out for them sharp edges.

Back on subject. Tubbing the rear arches. This was linked too by Wil_h by the way. I'll be doing this withing the next month or so as it was one of the things I left out of the rebuild so it was at least back together for Avon.

Never realised you butchered your car that much Jimster. What with the new engine it realy will go like shite off a shovel.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
