Hey guys,

It looks like that thread got closed because we got a bit heated. I, for one, apologize about that. I hope the Admins on this forum don't mind that I started a new thread on the same subject. Please don't delete this guys. I have new, real substantive info about the V2 brand directly from the SNELL Foundation.

I contacted someone I know who works in SNELL. They are located right here in California. I got a formal company statement from the companies General Manager about the V2 brand helmets as well as an interpretation from my friend within the co.

The Official statement
----------------------------

"The model V2 is a brand name for the helmet model S-2K made by a manufacturer in China, Shengchao Helmet. This model was certified to the Snell SA2005 standards in July 2006. The model was removed from our lists in August 2008. The helmet is no longer in production as a Snell certified helmet, but helmets still on the market, manufactured between July 2006 and August 2008, and have a Snell SA2005 serialized decal inside are recognized as certified by Snell. "

The unofficial (over the phone) explanation given to me by my friend within SNELL
----------------------------

The helmet was SA2005 certified at one point, but it is no longer. If it has a real SNELL sticker inside, it's ok. If it doesn't, it's because the helmet was made after Aug 2008. They apparently changed something in the manufacture or design, and as a result, lost it's certification for all helmets produced after August 2008.

So, essentially....buyer beware.

Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?
Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?
Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?
Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?

I woke up in a Soho doorway
A policeman knew my name
He said "You can go sleep at home tonight
If you can get up and walk away"

I staggered back to the underground
And the breeze blew back my hair
I remember throwin' punches around
And preachin' from my chair

Well, who are you? (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)
I really wanna know (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)
Tell me, who are you? (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)
'Cause I really wanna know (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)

I took the tube back out of town
Back to the Rollin' Pin
I felt a little like a dying clown
With a streak of Rin Tin Tin

I stretched back and I hiccoughed
And looked back on my busy day
Eleven hours in the Tin Pan
God, there's got to be another way

Well, who are you? (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)
Oh, who are you(Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)
Oh Tell me, who are you? (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)
Oh Who the fuck are you? (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)

Who are you?
who are who are who are you x11

Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?
Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?
Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?
Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?

I really wanna know (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)
I really wanna know (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)
C'mon tell me who are you? (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)
Oh, I really wanna know (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)

I know there's a place you walked
Where love falls from the trees
My heart is like a broken cup
I only feel right on my knees

I spit out like a sewer hole
Yet still recieve your kiss
How can I measure up to anyone now
After such a love as this?

Well who are you? (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)
tell me who are you? (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)
oh, I really wanna know? (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)
tell, tell me who are you? (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)

C'mon, c'mon who? (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)
Oh, Who the fuck are you? (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)
Who are you? (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?)
Oh, tell me who are you (Who are you?, ooo?)

I really wanna to know
Oh, I really want to know
C'mon tell me who are you, you, you?
Who are you?

I'd be curious to hear what they have to say as well. They may well be selling helmets that were manufactured a year ago, which may mean they are perfectly safe. Also, V2 may just buy finished helmets from the Chinese manufacturing firm and re-brand them. In that case, they may not even be aware the helmets they are selling are no longer SNELL approved.

Dragging up an old thread here and I don't want to re-open the whole 'wouldn't put my head in there debate', but I see there is another budget helmet manufacturer out there doing the same as V2. Anybody else seen them, any opinions?
