Just looking at having my mini sprayed and wanted to gauge how much it would cost to have a whole shell sprayed inside and out?

Anyone any experience or rough idea?

a grand for a cheapy job, quality might be variable at best.
Having seen mine its all in the prep I think, if you've got the time and facilities do it yourself, a polishing machine can fix a lot of horrors!

Here for the craic..

I've had a quote from somebody on here. He said around £1000 to prep and spray a bare clubman shell in flat black, including the visible bits of the inside.

He also said only he (or somebody in his business) would do thenprep to make sure the end result was up to their standards (my prep is crap anyway *wink* )

On the prep side of things...a local company would sand blast a mini shell and spray in primer £200.
The rest of it...you can pay a few hundred to thousands. Its a case of word of mouth in the local area.

I paid £700 for the TT inside and out. All the prep done by them. It was an ok job, but not concourse by any stretch.

if you prep it yourself and you get a bad spray job theyll blame the prep lol

when i had mine painted i had done 98% of the prep and i paid 600 quid but that was a rolling shell.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Fuck me, is it 1985 again? LOL seriously Steve, when did you last have a car sprayed? Paint alone for a primer, base and clear has to be the wrong side of 300 quid these days?

2 pack paint can run 70 quid a litre for the normal new stuff, add to that the hardner and thinner and you wont have much change from a ton.

if you can get a old school painter from somewhere hidden in a shed and get them to base it up for you, get it home and 1200/2000 grit it flat then you will only need to send it to a bodyshop for the clearcoat on the top

did the guy giving the estimate have size 28 shoes a funny red nose and a big grin? *happy*

to be fair thats probly for a top notch job, which all most everyone dosent need imho
all the works in the prep, if you can prep it and primer it then chances are you can paint it.
i painted my clubman on my driveway, id never used a compressor before and read no books on painting, i only got 2 runs on the whole car and they polished out

total cost excluding compressor, £70 *hehe!*
